In this printmaking class, students will explore the art of creating a 3-color reduction relief print edition. Reduction relief printing is a fascinating technique where multiple colors are printed from a single block, with each layer carved away to reveal the next color. Throughout the course, participants will learn the fundamentals of relief printing, including carving techniques, ink application, and registration. They'll have the opportunity to experiment with color blending and layering, resulting in unique and vibrant multi-color prints. This class is perfect for both beginners and experienced printmakers looking to expand their skills in this intricate and rewarding art form.

Artist Statement
As a multidisciplinary artist specializing in oil painting, printmaking, and ceramics, my work explores the intricate connections between nature, femininity, and the human experience. Drawing inspiration from the surreal and impressionistic movements, my creations often intertwine the natural world with the human form, presenting an otherworldly evolution of our environment.
Nature is a profound muse for me, guiding my artistic vision through its diverse forms and subtle intricacies. I depict the symbiotic relationship between humanity and nature, emphasizing the concept of biophilia – the innate affinity humans have with the natural world. My works invite viewers to delve into a realm where the boundaries between the natural and human worlds blur, showcasing the inherent beauty and interconnectedness of all life forms.
When creating prints or paintings, I immerse myself completely in the process. I begin with an idea or sketch, allowing the creative journey to consume me fully. In contrast, my approach to ceramics is more intuitive; I let the clay guide my hands, shaping organic forms inspired by coral, rocks, and other natural structures. These ceramic pieces often feature elements like mushrooms, moss, or flowers intricately integrated with human parts, reflecting the seamless blend of nature and humanity.
My preferred medium varies depending on the project. The concept of Mother Nature naturally intertwines with femininity, a theme deeply rooted in my work. As a woman raised by a strong female matriarch, I feel an innate connection to the creative force of life. Nature's call resonates with me, whispering through the wind, beckoning through waves and flowing water, and capturing my attention with its unique shapes and complex forms. Every rock, seashell, and breath of moss on a tree, every bird's song, communicates a profound message – that nature is not just around us, but it is an integral part of us.
My goal as an artist is to encourage viewers to look more closely at the world around them, to appreciate the overlooked details, and to recognize our deep connection with the planet. Through my art, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and reverence for the natural world, highlighting the beauty that lies in its often unnoticed elements.
