Through the principles of proportion and the use of simplified shapes, beginners start with a small bust. For the second half of this class, students will make a life sized mask to hang on the wall, honing their skills while learning Claudia’s special dry brush polychrome surface technique. Intermediate students get additional instruction for developing facial expression.

Claudia Jeffers’ Figure Sculpting Program is designed for beginners to develop figure sculpting skills in three distinct areas of focus through the division of three eight week sessions per year:


Winter- Sculpting the Face and Head
Spring- Creating Action in the Clay Figure
Summer - Open Studio Figure Sculpture TBA
Fall- Sculpting the Male and Female Torso
