ARTISTS’ STATEMENT:
I grew up in Delaware and began studying with a local artist when I was 13. I worked consistently on my art through middle school and high school, winning  awards in local and state contests. After graduating from Duke University with degrees in fine art and art history, I lived a number of years in Durham, NC, working as a book designer and painting and drawing the figure.

In 1992, we loaded a VW bus with art supplies and my dog, and my partner and I traveled the country for a year. Lured to the Sierra foothills in northern California, we fell in love with the landscape and the vibrant community, and decided to put down roots. I worked a number of years with Oliver Jackson at Sacramento State and my focus shifted from the figure to landscape.

Now, many years and two children later, I continue to be captivated and inspired by the beauty around me. I paint outdoors at every opportunity and exhibit my contemporary landscapes primarily in Northern California. I have shown work at  the Wild and Scenic Film Festival's juried art competition for several years, and am a resident at the ASiF Visual Art Center in Grass Valley, participating in a number of shows there each year. My work may also be found in local establishments and in private collections across the U.S. and Canada.
